I'm a new coordinator and just wanted to verify -- do all the Box Tops still need to be trimmed neatly on the dotted line for a valid submission?? Just wondering because the previous coordinator used a collection sheet during our last challenge and a lot of the Tops are not cut on the lines.

I am an anal person so I like the individual box tops to be neat when I prepare them for submission on the sheets. As long as the expiration date is clearly on the box top, it doesn't have to be perfectly cut out. Make sure to check the expiration date. I often see Boxtops with expired dates on them.

When I trim mine I cut them all around the same size and then peel them ... they , GM , say that they do NOT need to be trimmed at all ... just count , bundle and mail them in . I , personally , do as much as I can to keep the costs down to MAKE as much money for the school as I can .  Many on here do as I do and many think that I am nuts LOL  You do what / how it works best for you . There really is no wrong or right way ... just your way ... LOL .  here's another thing I have found in my years of mailing in Box tops , Campbell's , Tyson etc ... aside from making things as smaal and light as I can ENVELOPES cost LESS than boxes to mail your stuff in !!  And those "if it fits it ships" boxes cost more than envelops too .                                                 I do not use collection sheets as I do not get many back , out of an average of 950 kids I only get like 4 or 5 returned ... but if they work for your school great !  Keep them up .

By the way ... WELCOME to the wonderful world of coordinating !!  Keep it fun , especially for YOU , and you will be able to do this for a lot of years !!  ;-)

WELCOME!!

I tend to be a little spastic and trim everything very very neatly. I even peel extra cardboard of the back. I cut costs whichever way I can. I tend to use manilla envelopes to mail out the box tops and I try to send out $60 at a time. The postage only costs me around $2 each time (manilla envelopes are light light weight and I ziploc baggie my bundles). At the school, we have our own scale so I can weigh it here and send it out from here (so much cheaper and saves on gas in this town).

Hope this helps,
God Bless,

I used to do that but then I realized how much time it takes.  Now I use USPS flat rate shipping box and it only cost one flat rate and I send all my box tops all together in two mailings a year.  This saves me time and money in the long run.  I occasionally send in separate envelopes if I have bonus box tops expiring that cannot wait but that is rare.
