Does anyone have a newspaper add that they would like to share with me so I can get some ideas???  I'm new to the "box top" family and have been asked to write an add for our local newspaper.  Thanks any and all comments.

Newspaper add? Ideas for what? Do you need information that is about the box tops program or are you looking for personal stories or how to promote participation?

Not sure if this is what you're looking for, but I placed an ad (FREE) in our local paper asking the community's help in collecting Box Tops.

Starts with [Name School] is asking the community for its help as it launches the 2********* school year.

Then it goes into how we collect Box Tops and how much they are worth to the school. I mention a variety of items you can find them on. I give the school's address for mailing purposes and then my email address for any questions.

Its been approx 2 months......did you have any response from the community?  Thought I might do the same thing.  I cringe to think of all the money going in the trash in homes all around me!

I have done this and have had a tremendous response!  I have had many people over the years mail the box tops to me or the school.  It has been wonderful!

I just placed a free article in our local paper. It says our school (with address) is collecting BoxTops and Labels for Education UPC's in order to purchase school supplies and then it has my phone #.  Quite a few schools are doing the same thing, so they list a about 6-7 schools. After the article was in the paper, my turn-in suddenly increased.  I even get some mailed in to our school.

This is a great idea! I just went to my kids school yesterday to turn some box tops in & they told me they don't have anyone who does them! Well, I decided to register myself to be a coordinator to start turning them in for our school.

Good for you!  Glad to have you join us.  It is such a wonderful program I find it hard to understand when no one will step up to be coordinator.

mommyof3boys1girl: WOW!! NO coordinator?! That's crazy. Good for you for taking it on!!

This is my first year as well and I have 4 kids too so I know it's a big undertaking, but it's well worth it. As of right now, my school has officially collected $2,300 in Box Tops for the year, however we're actively collecting for next year and will reach at least $4,000 by the end of this school year.

My school is 4-6 with about 1,100 students. I use contests and also promote heavily through press releases and letters to the editor in our local paper. I am trying to get our community of 25,000 involved.

I wish you well!

When running these ads did you only mention the school that you collect for or a complete district?  I collect for a private school but we have a good size public district.  Was there conflict because you only mentioned your school?  Great Idea; thanks for posting it.
