When I became coordinator in August 2010 and found over 7,000 Box Tops left over in bags from the previous year, I thought there must be a better way.  On the BT website under "Coordinator News" I found the Top Ten Tips for a successful program.  #1 Use Collection Sheets regularly and #2 Hold regular collection contests.  Following that advice, we went from a 2009-2010 submission of $703 to a 2010-2011 submission of $2,366.  We are on track to beat that amount and the goal set by BT for 2011-2012.  We had a 2nd grader turn in 1,241 BT during the second quarter of this year.  For a K-8th school of 250 and Preschool of 70, we are doing great!  We use a Treasure Hunt theme, complete with Treasure Hunt collection sheets, laminated poster with individual ships for each class showing the ships in order of number of Box Tops collected in the "race to the treasure."  We emphasize WE are God's "treasured possessions" as in Deuteronomy 14:2.  Coordinator gives $1 gold coins; other prizes & class prizes; PTL gives gift cards to best collectors.

WOW! What a wonderful story. Congratulations!  Would you mind sharing a picture of your bulletin board and your collection sheet?  Where do you buy those $1 gold coins? A treasure hunt is a great idea--a pot of Box Tops gold is definitely the best treasure :)

That was inspiring! I am the teacher and coorinator at my school, you gave me an idea. A treasure hunt that is awesome! That would bring up the morale of the teachers and students.
