Hello Everyone!  I'm excited to be one of the writers for the Box Tops Blog and share some of my experiences as a member of the Box Tops team as well as a mother of two little ones.  How fun that my first post gets to be about my recent family spring break to Los Angeles!  While I love working on Box Tops, I was in much need of some days out of the office, especially after the submission deadline and all the Box Tops University preparation.  Sunny CA was just what the docter ordered for some R&R and a welcome change from the cold MN winter.  The only part that was not so much fun was the travel to/from LA.  Any of you with young children, know that a long flight with a toddler is not easy!  (a great iPhone app called "Teach Me: Kindergarten" helped entertain my 3 1/2 year old).

My husband, kids and I stayed with close friends of ours in Redondo Beach, so we had lots of good time at the beach with the kids.  I am a runner, and it was wonderful to get out by the water in shorts and a t-shirt vs. the hat and mittens that have been part of my jogging routing for months!  I love to run in whatever city I visit, and I often check out the site Trail Link for the local trails.

The highlight of the trip was a day at Disney Land.  We were at the park when it opened at 8am ready to go - my husband is planner extraordinaire.  Thank goodness we were there early!  The park was packed by 10:30, but we had already hit the highlights for a 3 year old and toddler.  I am always impressed by how Disney does things - the park was beautiful and the rides & entertainment were spectacular (both for the little kids and the big kids!).

I hope many of you were able to do something fun for spring break as well, and I would love to hear about it!

I have to say I am extremely disappointed with my first submission experience as a Box Top coordinator. I did everything I was supposed to, weeded out the expired, trimmed them neatly, bundled them, and mailed them by the 3/1 deadline. For some reason, BTFE has no record of our school's package. In the past two weeks, I have faxed proof of submission (which I initially did on line as well) and proof of postage. I called last week to learn the fax was "having problems" and I needed to fax again. There goes $4.00 spent on a grocery store fax over Spring Break. I faxed last week from the school, still no record today. I have visions of a very disorganized operation. I know there are thousands of schools involved. I appreciate the program goal. But, this is very frustrating. Our school is not one with thousands in the PTA coffer. I am resurrecting a group that's been dead for seven years. We need the money for events and count on it. I may shift focus to Campbells Labels for Ed. I have heard many good things about them. Any one else having issues?

Come to Texas and enjoy our beaches at South Padre Island. A quiet beautiful beach. Spring breakers from all over USA have discovered this beach and unfortunately us locals cannot enjoy Spring Break until that season is over. Trying having a BTU in Corpus Christi or McAllen, Texas. You will love the friendly people there. An ideal BTU place in Corpus Christi Texas, it is family oriented. The views are spectacular from the ocean bayfront hotels.
