Impossibly Easy Asian Bake

What's for dinner? Try an Asian twist with an impossibly easy dinner bake.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 package (12 oz) bulk pork or turkey sausage
  • 1 medium onion, chopped (1/2 cup)
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 package (14 ounces) frozen Chinese stir-fry vegetables (with seasoning packet), thawed and drained
  • ¾ cup Original Bisquick® mix
  • 1 ½ cups milk
  • ¼ teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seed, if desired

Directions

  1. Heat oven to 400°F. Grease 10-inch glass pie plate with shortening or cooking spray. In 10-inch skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Add sausage, onion and garlic. Cook, stirring frequently, until sausage is no longer pink; drain. Spread sausage mixture in pie plate.
  2. Spread vegetables (without seasoning packet) over sausage mixture. In medium bowl, stir contents of seasoning packet and remaining ingredients except sesame seed until blended. Pour over vegetables.
  3. Bake 30 minutes. Sprinkle with sesame seed. Bake 5 to 10 minutes longer or until knife inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 5 minutes.

Recipe Tip:

Substitution

Japanese stir-fry vegetables have no seasoning packet but can be substituted for the Chinese stir-fry vegetables. Spread vegetables over sausage mixture as directed in recipe.

Serve With

Serve with crunchy Chinese coleslaw that you pick up at the deli and, for dessert, almond cookies with tea.
